Piolo considers 2011 'most challenging year'

After his controversial break-up with actress KC Concepcion, actor Piolo Pascual admitted that 2011 has been his most challenging year so far.

Pascual, however, chooses not to dwell on the negative things because he has more reasons to be grateful for the past year.

“I am thankful to the year that was and I'm looking forward to another year. You never draw on the negative things. We live through another year. We just look ahead. We think positively about everything,” Pascual said in a taped interview with “The Buzz” which aired last Sunday.

The actor also thanked all those who stood by his side every step of the way.

“I’m just thankful for all the support that I’m getting. Thank you sa panibagong taon. Let’s look ahead. Maging masaya tayo sa taong ito. I think the most important for us is to check our hearts if it's in place and to keep the faith,” he said.

Meanwhile, Pascual said he is currently busy taping his newest television series “Padre de Pamilya,” where he will be working with actors Jericho Rosales and Christopher de Leon.

“I’m concentrating on the soap that I’m doing. It’ll be showing soon. I’m excited. I had to cancel my Valentine’s show because madugo yung taping. So I have to concentrate first sa TV,” he said.

Apart from his upcoming TV project, Pascual revealed that he will also do another movie with ABS-CBN, as well as produce the sequel of the hit comedy film “Kimmy Dora.”

“Yes, we have a movie coming soon. ‘Kimmy Dora Part 2’ is shooting already and we have a movie here in ABS-CBN and another movie outside. Iniisip pa namin kung ano ang ipa-prioritize namin sa Spring Films because madaming naka-line up,” he said.

Piolo Pascual auctions photos to raise money for scholars

Piolo Pascual has unveiled his most recent charity project -- an online auction for the benefit of the scholars of the Hebreo Foundation, which the actor's family started.

The auction, launched last December 10, features 12 photographs that Pascual took during his travels as well as paintings by Hebreo scholar-artist Omar Flores.

The photographs are available for bidding on www.sunpiology.com.

"It's on our third year and this time around, we invited Hebreo scholars to do their own depiction of the artwork, of me, dun sa ten years ko sa business. That's actually intertwined with the 12 photographs that I took and it's exciting because it's a different theme," Pascual told Push.com.ph.

"It's called 'Panoramic Portals with Omar.' Sa kanya paintings, sa akin photographs," he added.

Christmas plans

Meanwhile, Pascual said he is planning to celebrate Christmas here in the Philippines with his family.

"We're spending it here, dito lang. Some of my nieces and nephews just arrived from the States, and my sister is arriving next week. Magkakasama kami rito. Even my mom has been here since last month and magkakasama 'yung buong family dito sa Manila," he said.

"It's very simple. Usually, we have a traditional Christmas dinner, 'yung noche buena. I have five siblings so kung sino matoka sa bahay, dun kami. And after Christmas kasi, may mga kanya-kanyang pamilya rin," he added.

Asked about his Christmas wish this year, Pascual said: "I guess gusto ko wala na gaanong kalamidad kasi ang hirap for our community. Kasi kahit resilient tayo, mahirap pa rin kahit holidays may mga bagyo, may mga kalamidad na nangyayari na hindi natin ma-kontrol."

"So I just pray na hindi ganun kagrabe para at least may mas magandang Pasko 'yung mga kababayan natin."

Eugene Domingo, nagpahayag ng malasakit kay Piolo Pascual

Inihayag ni Eugene Domingo na patuloy ang komunikasyon nila ng kaibigan niyang si Piolo Pascual. Gayunman, hindi raw nila pinag-uusapan ang isyung kinakaharap ng aktor.

Sinabi ng batikang aktres na ang nangyaring kontrobersiya na idinulot ng paghihiwalay nina Piolo at KC Concepcion ay bahagi lamang umano ng pagiging sikat nila, ayon sa ulat ni showbiz reporter Lhar Santiago.

Ayon kay Eugene na tinaguriang “festival queen," nagte-text daw sila ni Piolo pero hindi nila pinag-uusapan ang nangyaring hiwalayan.

“Pero siyempre aware ka ‘pag ang kaibigan mong artista ay parang piniprito at magkakilala naman kayo at alam mong kontakin, hindi naman siguro masama na makipag-communicate ka and to tell him na may malasakit ka," paliwanag ni Eugene sa Chika Minute ng GMA news 24 Oras nitong Biyernes.

Idinagdag niya, handa siyang makinig kay Piolo kung nais nitong magkwento pero hindi raw niya ito uusisain bilang respeto sa kaibigan na naging producer niya sa kanyang pelikula.

Samantala, nakapagdesisyon na si Eugene na sa float ng movie na Shake, Rattle and Roll 13 siya sasakay sa araw ng parada ng Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).

Bukod sa SRR 13, kasama rin si Eugene sa film fest movie na My Househusband... Ikaw Na at Enteng Ng Ina Mo.

“Naisip ko kasi mas kailangan ako sa float ng Shake, Rattle and Roll kasi matitibay at talagang subok na subok na at sikat na sikat na ang mga nasa Enteng with Ai-ai (Delas Alas) and Vic Sotto. At doon naman sa Househusband… Ikaw Na si Judy Ann (Santos) at saka si Ryan (Agoncillo)," paliwanag niya.

Star Magic artists give back to charity

Star Magic artists, led by actor Piolo Pascual, finally turned over the proceeds of their benefit events to several charities on Thursday night.

The proceeds of Pascual's benefit concert "A Night To Give Back" were given to Elsie Gaches, Reception and Study Center for Children, Sanctuary Center and Sagip Kapamilya.

Pascual, who held the concert last November 20 at Zirkoh, was present during the turnover. Other Star Magic artists such as Julia Montes, Martin del Rosario, Enchong Dee and Sam Milby were also at the event. .

Proceeds from the basketball tournament, organized by actor Gerald Anderson, went to Cottolengco Filim and Cancer Warrior.

The tournament was held last November 13 at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

Pascual and Anderson's events are just some of the ways that Star Magic artists share their blessings with Filipinos.

Last December 2, Star Magic artists also attended a feeding program for undernourished children from Teresa Heights in Fairview, Quezon City.

Piolo Pascual, Star Magic artists in QC feeding program

Several Star Magic artists helped in a feeding program in Quezon City on Friday.

Piolo Pascual, Melissa Ricks, Jason Ganza, Jovit Baldivino, and other ABS-CBN talents immersed in the small community of Maligaya Teresa in Fairview, Quezon City.

All of them handed out packed meals among residents in the poor community.

Some of them also gave short performances to entertain them.

The budget for the activity came from the proceeds of their recent benefit show dubbed “A Night to Give.”

According to Pascual, events such as this is the Star Magic artists' way of giving back all the blessing they have received, especially now that Christmas is just around the corner.

He said, “Gusto lang po namin kayong batiin ng ‘Maligayang Pasko’ bilang pasimula ng buwan, pasimula ng season.”

Eugene Domingo defends Piolo Pascual

Eugene Domingo defended Piolo Pascual, whose recent break-up with KC Concepcion sparked questions about his sexual orientation.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News reporter Mario Dumaual on Wednesday afternoon, Domingo said she will always be there for Pascual to show him love and understanding.

"Oo, of course I love Piolo sa kaibuturan ng aking puso. Marami ang opinyon ang mga haka haka. Well, hindi naman natin maiiwasan dahil sila ay sikat na personality lalo na si Piolo number 1 talaga siya. Pero sa sa amin, sa personal naming relasyon ay mahal na mahal ko. Siya po-proteksyunan ko siya sa anumang binabalak laban sa kanya. I will be protecting him because I love him," Domingo said.

Even though a lot has been said against Pascual, she said she has nothing bad to say against Concepcion.

"We are aware sa maraming sinasabi ang dali daling manghusga at magconclude. Wala naman tayo sa sitwasyon na 'yon. Hindi naman natin sila kilala at nakikita araw-araw napakadalilng magsalita," Domingo said.

She added: "Wala din akong paghuhusga kay KC o kaninuman it's just marami tayong sinasabi. So sana ay huwag na tayong magsalita lalo't hindi tayo kasali."

Domingo believes the controversy will not affect Pascual's career as an actor.

"Oo hinihintay ko na lang talaga ang offer ng Star Cinema na magkasama kami sa pelikula," she said.

Pascual was one of the producers of Domingo's hit film "Kimmy Dora," which will have a sequel "Kimmy Dora and the Temple of Kiyeme."

"Malapit na po kaming mag-shooting ng 'Kimmy Dora' ngayong Disyembre: 'Ang Kimmy Dora and the Temple of Kiyeme,' from Springfields (production)," Domingo said.

Currently, Domingo has 3 films participating in this year's Metro Manila Film Festival.

She's part of Star Cinema and M-Zet's "Enteng ng Ina Mo", Regal Films' "Shake, Rattle & Roll and OctoArts' "My Househusband: Ikaw Na!"

Gabby Concepcion breaks silence on KC-Piolo breakup

Gabby Concepcion finally broke his silence on the news of his daughter KC's breakup with actor Piolo Pascual.

"Well, my take on that is ito, makinig kayo, this is very important. They are no longer today, they are yesterday, but they will never be tomorrow. Well, relationships and breakups happen, ganoon talaga," he said in an interview with ABS-CBN News reporter Mario Dumaual.

Concepcion was quick to add, though, that he understands how his daughter feels.

"Of course I feel for my daughter. I don't normally see her cry on TV, but I guess everything works out for the best. She needs our support right now. She's hurting," he said.

"I know it's difficult for her. She's young. It takes experience to finally decide on what you are going to do to take the next step, so she's going through it right now. I'm sure after these things, she will be strong," he added.

Asked if he got angry at Pascual, Concepcion said, "Well, kanya-kanyang emotions 'yan. Of course sa una, galit ka because somebody hurt your daughter. Any father would feel that way. But siyempre, you have to go on. You have to move forward."

"Relationships are like that. It's just that you know the industry. So I just hope na lang na people are more open, more honest. And if you don't like her, don't be [like that]. I'm sure it's not anybody's intention, but I really hope things [would] turn out better for the both of them [as they go their] separate ways."

Does Concepcion believe that his daughter should give Pascual a second chance?

"Well, na kay KC 'yun. Kung ano ang gusto niyang mangyari. She's the only one who knows what she wants in life, and she's gone through what she's going through. Nasa kanya 'yon kung gusto niyang balikan. You know it's not for me to decide," he said.

"You know, well, this is just based on experience. You can't control love. If it happens, it happens. Parang kidlat 'yan, di mo alam kung kailan ka tatamaan. It's like death, di mo alam kung kailan mangyayari. If it happens, you know if it's real. I know kay KC, totoo 'yon."

In a taped interview aired on "The Buzz," KC admitted that she and Pascual have parted ways.

Early this week, Megastar Sharon Cuneta said her daughter, KC, is mature enough to handle any problem.

She also believes that KC learned a lot from this experience.

Bottomline, talent will survive. Hindi niya kasalanan kung mahalin siya ng 100 porsyento ng tao at hindi niya ito maibalik.”

Positibo rin ang pagsuri mula sa hanay ng mga direktor.

Pahayag ni Jun Lana, “Beterano na ‘yan eh. Ang dami nang kontrobersiya na binato sa kanya, pero nandiyan pa rin siya, nakatayo pa rin siya. Many people said that he’s a good man, he’s a good person.”

Sabi naman ni Joey Reyes, “By sheer power of his talent and his determination, he will survive this.”

Ayon naman sa beteranang producer na si Lily Monteverde, wala siyang pinapanigan kina KC at Piolo.

Aniya, malakas pa rin daw ang hatak ni PJ sa senior citizens.

“I’m for Piolo,” sabi pa ni Mother Lily.

Sa barometro ng mga kababaihan sa showbiz, tulad ni Venus Raj na magde-debut na sa pelikula, si Piolo pa rin ang top choice bilang leading man.

Giit niya, “Definitely. I’m looking forward to that.”

Likas na kontrobersyal man, sa bandang huli ay titimbangin si Piolo sa kanyang kabutihan bilang tao at propesyunal.
