Batangas Governor Vilma Santos formally introduced the girlfriend of her son, Luis Manzano, to the people of Batangas on Wednesday.
For the first time, Santos publicly acknowledged actress Jennylyn Mercado as her son’s girlfriend during the commemoration of Batangas’ founding anniversary held at the town of Calaca.
Mercado was present during the occasion as a guest judge in a singing contest, which is also a part of the said festivity.
Manzano is happy about her mother's gesture.
“I hope that this first milestone will go a long way for us (Jennylyn and I) together,” he said.
When asked how much he loves Mercado, Manzano replied, “A lot, since action speaks louder than words.”
Santos has also expressed delight that Manzano and Mercado can now openly show their love for each other.
She said, “They owe it to the public, since they owe a big part of their lives to the public.”
Santos wishes the best for her son and her newfound love.
Despite several offers from rival networks, Santos said that she has decided to stay with ABS-CBN.
According to her, she owes a big part of her success to the Kapamilya network, and that this is her simple way of returning the favor.
Santos is set to do a number of special projects with ABS-CBN in 2012, including the celebration of her 50th anniversary in the showbiz industry.
